Famotidine is used to treat heartburn, indigestion, and to treat and prevent stomach and intestinal ulcers and conditions in which the stomach secretes too much acid, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Famotidine also treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions in which acid moves from the esophagus to the stomach, causing heartburn.
