    About Dalteparin Sodium Low Molecular Weight Heparin, Anticoagulant. Mechanism of Action of Dalteparin Sodium Dalteparin is an anticoagulant. It is a low molecular weight heparin that binds to and accelerate the activity of antithrombin III.This produces inactivation of factor Xa and thrombin and prevents the formation of blood clots.Binding of Dalteparin with Heparin cofactor II also inhibits thrombin activity and produces anticoagulant effect. Indications for Dalteparin Sodium 1.To prevent deep vein thrombosis Typical Dosage for Dalteparin Sodium Sub cutaneous Injection: Prophylaxis against deep vein thrombosis in patient undergoing abdominal surgery:2500 IU daily taken 1 - 2 hours before surgery and repeated once daily for 5 - 10 days postoperatively. Prophylaxis against deep vein thrombosis in patient undergoing hip replacement surgery:2500 IU within 2 hours before surgery and second dose at least 6 hours after first dose if required.Continue 5000 IU once daily for 5 -
